Beauty Routine

A few weeks ago my sister was asking me how I get my skin to look so healthy. I do believe genetics plays a big part of it, because I’ve never been that dedicated to my skin -I hate routines, I get bored easily and I forget. However, after learning how horrible my skin could get if I didn’t take care of it (wrinkles, elasticity, the effects of constant sun exposure… you name it, it frightened me), I decided to adopt easy routines in order to care for my skin as much as I could. As you will see further on, I don’t own many beauty products. My skin pores are minimal, my face is smooth, and I rarely breakout. This means, it has become fairly easy to treat my skin with just a few good products. I also like to create, which means I’ve even tried creating my own facial scrubs. Below you’ll find a list of what I use daily, weekly and monthly! Hope it helps!

Micellar Cleansing Water has become my all-time favourite. If I’m not in the mood to wash my face or put lotion, this is my go-to product to get it all done. Micelles are attracted to dirt, grime, and oil, and they draw out impurities without drying out your skin. At first I was kind of skeptical because why wouldn’t I rinse it off. It felt weird at first because it does leave your skin moisturised, which somehow feels like it’s oil left behind; however, it isn’t. This one specifically also works as a makeup remover, and it’s the best one I’ve tried. Best thing about this product is that it costs about $8 and you can find it in your local pharmacy. Give it a try and let me know.

I’ve been using Chanel products for about 8-10 years now. These 4 products are my everyday go-to products. They are water based, light and smell amazing. First, I use the Mousse Confort to wash my face (just a dap will do and it will last more than a year – definitely worth the investment). Afterwards, I use the Le Lift creme to moisturise my skin. Then comes the Ultra Correction Line Repair, an eye cream than reduces the appearance of wrinkles. After my skin has absorbed the lotions, I use Hydramax + Active Teinté before I get my makeup on. Good thing about this one is that is contains SPF and a bit of color, which means my skin is protected and looks a bit more tan than usual.

Something I learned not too long ago is the importance of exfoliation. However, you should only exfoliate once or twice a week, no more and no less – don’t overexfoliate, it will irritate your skin and do the complete opposite of what you want it to be. The process of exfoliation involves the removal of old dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. It is important to remove those dead cells out because our skin is constantly generating new ones which rise up to the surface with keratin. If it is blocked with dead ones, it will not do its job. After exfoliation, be sure to moisturise because exfoliation dries the skin. After doing this for a couple of weeks, you’ll find your skin smoother and glowing.

The first (pink-looking) scrub I created my self, using coconut oil, grapefruit essential oil and pink himalayan salt. The second scrub (Apivita), I bought specifically for blackheads, which actually helps, but, you know those blackheads can be pretty stubborn, so everything combined helps.

I try to use face masks about once a month, but I should try to use them weekly. This Clé de Peau 3-step regimen gives my complexion moisture, resilience and even texture. It also improves skin and enhances vital functions, increases radiances and definitely inspires a feeling of confidence and beauty.

  1. Lotion: Reduces roughness and dull surface cells by gentle exfoliation. Helps improve the application of subsequent skincare.
  2. Essence: Instantly enhances the skin’s natural recovery functions for improved translucence, resilience, texture, and moisture retention.
  3. Mask: Developed with a luxurious thickness to provide a soft comfortable fit over facial contours. Diminishes the appearance of surface imperfections for smoother, fuller, more evenly toned skin. Counteracts fatigue with a sensation and fragrance that enhances a feeling of exquisite relaxation.
